Tend Your Magic
Hello, curious soul ~
A couple months ago, a dear friend asked me: How are you tending your magic?
In that moment, my mind went decidedly blank.
What am I doing outside of using my willpower and energy reserves?
My first response whispered to myself was, “Not much.” Which is both true and not true.
Magic can change the way we see the world, and the world looks different when we look through the lenses of magic.
Of course there's so much magic in my life. I see it at play as I dip my toe back into making jewelry. I see it in outfits I put together, connections at work, and in delicious meals I whip up from unplanned cupboards.
I've also been seeing magic in how Candle Classes and Women's Circles have shuffled and required rescheduling. In my quest for planning and consistency, I haven't tuned in more deeply to my magic and how it likes to flow through me. And so these classes have insisted upon it in ways that feel obvious now. The AROUSE in April candle class took place on Venus day (Friday) rather than the scheduled Wednesday, and MAGIC in May shifted to Jupiter day (Thursday — my fave day for working magic).
This is the juggling that sometimes happens between the mundane and the magical. The two can work well together, yet the magical steps in to make adjustments usually when we're letting the logical and mundane dictate our rhythms.
The magical doesn't always make sense on paper or work well for algorithms, but it sure does support flow and feel better in the body.
The question remains: How am I tending my magic?
Right now it's by witnessing it. I'm reconnecting with practices of movement, writing, and meditation. I'm also changing up my daily Tarot practice. All of these each have helped me feel more like an open vessel that magic flows through.
And in the last two events I'm leading this season, there will be more ritualistic aspects.
Ritual always feels like magic.
The final Women's Circle on Thursday, May 23 will be held outside around a fire pit under the Sagittarius Full Moon. We will connect with the elements in ritual to recharge our power to shine brightly in the solar months ahead.
The final Candle Class, JOYRIDE in June, takes place on the eve of Summer Solstice on June 19. Together we will close out Spring and call in our desires for Summer.
For both of these events, I let the magic itself lead the way as all logistics and such can adapt.
I'm continuing to tend my magic with earlier wake ups to see the sunrise and bask in coolness. I relish in synchronicities when they arise. And I cherish the boundaries/discipline I'm putting in place for more reflective alone time for creative endeavors.
Now I pose the question to you: How are you tending your magic?
Let me know. The tending can look as different as all the flowers in bloom right now. Sometimes it may just be a change in mindset to see how your practices are tending your magic.
Many have said that joining in group ritual connects them to their magic. If this type of tending sounds good to you, please join in the last offerings of the season.
Taking a Summer break to reevaluate what serves is yet another way to cultivate connection with magic. I'll be sharing more about how to hold Summer as a rest season to recalibrate your compass for Autumn and Winter. This is what I'll be doing, and I'm unsure what offerings will unfold for later this year.
Hope to see you soon!
Kat.
