Countdown to Autumn + Meditation Prompts

Hello, curious soul ~

Now that the wheel has turned to September, I'm finally able to wiggle my toes and feel the end of Summer.

Many people love Summer. I'm surrounded by Summer lovers, and this lifts my spirits when I'm drained by this relentless season. I want to love Summer and reconnect to the handful of carefree summers of my youth at Camp Illahee spent diving into crafts, exploring the outdoors, singing around campfires, writing letters, and learning new skills like horseback riding, synchronized canoeing, and shooting. But, alas, my life is not structured like this right now (although I do use this for inspiration of what lights me up when I feel off).

Until today, Summer's heat still had a grip where I live, but I've been more tolerant this year because I consciously put a pause on practices that drain me during my most taxing season.

This intentional pausing of things I love, such as teaching group classes and participating in fairs, created space to bring in lapsed foundational practices like weightlifting and dance so I could feel more supported and energized when my favorite season arrives later this week.

It's a tricky business to switch from my most draining season to my most favorite, inspired season. When mishandled it takes me precious weeks to sync up, leaving me frustrated as my favorite season passes by.

To ease this crunchiness I work with seasonal intentions and cycles. Awareness and intention help with preparing emotionally, spiritually, and physically for the transitions no matter how you feel about the specific seasons themselves.

It's hard to show up the same for every season. It's also totally unnatural.

Autumn officially begins on September 22.

Take some time to ponder your intentions for closing out Summer and transitioning to Autumn in the coming week.

Here are some journal or meditation prompts:

  • How do I want to feel moving into Autumn?

  • What wants to be honored or celebrated from the Summer season?

  • Are there any final Summer hurrahs I want to do?

  • How am I feeling about Summer drawing to a close?

  • Is there anything I can start putting in place now to support the darker seasons ahead?

  • What worked particularly well this Summer? Is there anything I want to take note of for future Summer intentions?

Thanks to pondering these types of prompts before Summer began, I already feel more energized and sparking with creative inspiration and motivation.

May these prompt support you in the transitions ahead.

Stay Curious,
Kat
