Don’t give up on 2020–ask yourself these questions instead
There are 3 months left to 2020. What are you going to do with them? I know secretly (or not so secretly) you are so over 2020. But it’s here. It’s hard, but it’s here. How can you make these remaining months work for you?
When I keep things vague and think-y, my anxiety builds. That’s why I love free writing. My mind can relax and stop directing the flow of ideas and problem-solving. Pen in hand, timer set, I let the writing flow as quickly as possible to see what wants to arrive on the page. I’m often so surprised. Deep longings are given space alongside simple pleasures. Sometimes a feeling arises so I can dive in and see how to activate that feeling in my life.
My anxiety eases through this writing process. My priorities and To-Dos shift.
TRY OUT THESE PROMPTS TO SEE WHAT COMES FOR YOU.
Set a timer for 5 minutes each and do them in rapid succession to cultivate a flow.
What are you calling in for Autumn?
How do you want to feel?
What helps you feel this way?
What do you want to do this season?
What’s your biggest challenge?
One caveat: don’t feel you have to dictate the answer and block everything else out. If something unrelated to a prompt question starts to flow, go with what comes. The point isn’t to get an answer. The point is to give permission to that which needs a safe space to be expressed and seen.
We practice staying curious when asking questions in relationships with others but often neglect to do this with ourselves, believing we must know the answers and they must be logical answers.
Stay curious and see what you uncover.
