Dear Autumn: A Letter

Dear Autumn,

Ssssshhhh, don't tell the others, but you're my favorite. Your blend of warmth and cool nights, golden tones and crackling fires sets my own heart ablaze.

I hope you win this battle with Summer. Bring your rains and your crispness. It's hard to look forward to all the highlights when fires are raging around the state. Still I anticipate your gifts and understand I can’t dictate their arrival.

Your smells of cinnamon, bone broths and herbal concoctions awaken and recharge my soul. Thank you for giving me permission to go inwards. Thank you for temperatures and fresh air that beckon me outside for bike rides and pickle ball without fear of heat rash or exhaustion. Your flamboyant colors illuminate your depth as they give way to rain, mist and grey. The veils that thin and show me the shadows of the world. I feel my ancestors in my bones while I celebrate different holidays here on the surface. Thank you for the gratitude you awaken and the opportunities for gift giving.

Thanks for allowing me to sleep in and snuggle deeper into the covers. I love the big duvet that signals you’ve come to stay awhile and all the crazy squirrels, but most of all I so appreciate the burst in energy I feel.

I feel free and filled with possibility around you. I hope the feeling is mutual and that you enjoy my cheerful spirit and all the candles and incense. Don't ever lose your mystery and witchy-ness. Your magick makes you special. I look forward to many moons together.

Much love,

Kat
