A Craftsy Class Is Born: Study with me!

Earlier this summer I went to Denver to do my first ever video teaching. I *loved* it because Craftsy is such a fun and great company (it doesn't hurt that the jewelry studio is shared with the cake decorating folks). It's faster and easier than writing a book (and my book, Elegant Wire Jewelry, is out of print anyway), and it's way easier for students to follow along and really see what's happening.5207_001_retouchedThe hardest part for me was loosening up, though. There were times when I felt like stern, middle-aged Kathy... luckily my producer and the fun camera guys helped me to keep smiling and got me to pause whenever I got hunched and too engaged with my work. I didn't mind the idea of being on camera, but the introverted part sometimes reared its head.I haven't seen the class yet... that might be tough to watch, but I know their editing will be amazing. For the most part the cameras are focused on the work and what my hands are doing (yes, I got a manicure and can attest to the fact that a gel manicure can withstand wire work! I have nails again!).5207_053_retouchedMy class launches on Monday, August 17. You can enter to win it for free by clicking here and either signing in or becoming a member of the Craftsy site. It's free to join. Enter by August 16. One winner will be chosen at random and will get my class for free!In my class you'll learn some different wire wrapping techniques and ways to make dimensional frames. There's some basic info to get you started, but I wanted to focus on the fun stuff and ramp up to advanced projects so you get lots of practice and support. I also throw in some patina techniques and polishing ideas so you can personalize your designs and make your visions come to life.5207v_sale_1I'll be right there with you, too... with Craftsy, students get to interact with the teachers by asking questions. And you can share photos of your projects! If you aren't familiar with Craftsy, check out their class offerings! They work with individual artists and are very supportive of us. There are so many great classes! I'm excited about the soldering classes (there are several, but I have Joanna Gollberg's books and am excited to see live-action video*), but cooking and photography have so many amazing options... those are two of my hobbies. I'm going to ramp up my personal class roster since the arrival of autumn always makes me want to take classes.I hope to see you in class! Click here to enter to win my class for free — the lucky winner will be notified when the class launches on Monday, August 17.5207-Dimensional-Wire-Wrapping-Techniques29*Fun fact: Joanna and I went to high school together in Asheville, North Carolina!
