Weeding your Energetic Garden

I don’t know about you, but in my physical garden I’m already having to tend to weeds. While technically we are still in Springtime — the time of seeding and fertilizing early growth — we need to observe what's unintentionally growing and taking the energy from our intentional plantings. Spring demands the highest amount of energy output for growth, so let’s carry this garden metaphor into our spiritual life and ask: What needs weeding right now? (Ace of Pentacles) and What tool or energetic can help us with this process? (5 of Cups)Simple 2 Card Tarot Reading

Stop chasing money. That intense energetic stunts young growth. Spring is a time to nurture and foster development, not demand ripened fruit and immediate success. This Ace also suggests to stop planting. Do you need so many seeds? "Overplanting" comes from fear and scarcity mentality. Nurture and fertilize what you have going — it’s enough if well tended. Work on letting go of the new/young/more energetic and, instead, turn to fostering deep roots, steady growth and patience.

To stop this grasping, busy body energetic, tune in to how you feel about various activities in your life. Specifically, observe your energy. This week, mindfully bring awareness to your habits, choices and activities. Tune in to your energy before/during/after interactions with people, commitments, objects, food. What aspects of your life trigger a draining effect? You’ve drawn attention to your weeds. Judgement isn’t needed in this mindfulness exercise (i.e., labeling something as “bad” or “good”), yet releasing these drains will lighten your emotional load.

Conversely, what feels good, nourishes and boosts your energy? This fertilizes you and fosters growth.

Focusing on what feels good and releasing what doesn’t will support you these last weeks of Spring.

As we evolve and move further along our spiritual paths, “weeds” and “fertilizer” change over time. That’s why we don’t need to label “good" or “bad” but rather ask, “Does this serve me now?”
