The Power of Now is Overrated

Very Full Moon blessings to you.

Right now I have several new undertakings in process.

One project, my bathroom remodel, is taking considerably longer than expected.

Other commitments, like my Client Care job and a new training I'm in to uplevel my coaching skills, have a momentum all their own.

Both situations happening simultaneously pull me apart some days, going back and forth between OMG! Slow down! I'm so behind! and Hurry up! Why isn't this going faster?!

What brings sanity? Visualizing the outcome.

When you tune into what you're heading towards and why you're doing it — which boils down to how it will make you feel — it makes the whole roller coaster worth it.

You can't control every twist and turn, every excruciatingly slow climb to the top, but you can keep your actions and thoughts pointed toward your desired outcome.

Anytime you freak out and put on the crown of the Drama Queen — which I did mightily with our recent power outage here in Northern California — tuning into the deeper why instead of freaking out about the challenges in the moment allows you to figure out some solutions.

Why was this year so different than last year's outages? My life this year is different than last year. Not only was working in a café an option last year, but I didn't have on online job and I wasn't attending school online. My circumstances had surpassed my foundation.

When that reality hit me in the face, I asked: What am I going to do? Solutions came through. A dear friend welcomed me into her office for coworking and I now have a generator on the way.

I still had to scramble and make some things work in the moment. Before these solutions came through, I took a deep breath and decided to do what I could rather than give up on the day completely. Hello, mindset shift. I had to take baby steps, but that was way better than no steps.

Why was “doing” better than not doing and just going with the flow?

It was an opportunity to work through the victim-of-my-circumstances mentality and move into a mindset of possibility. I couldn't take for granted what I could do, I had to dig deep and ask What *can* I do?

This kept me moving towards my dreams. I rose up rather than gave up.

And that time felt so effective, like writing this letter to you longhand without any distractions of social media or phone notifications. Even my meetings were more dropped in, as I sat in my car in a spot with better cell reception.

Celebrate these gifts that come through challenges, especially the opportunity to dig deep into your strong self and work that muscle to Do it anyway. I know parts of the story are hard, but don't let them stop you from creating a life of adventure and possibility.
