Healing Judgment
Recently I asked myself: How can I be more loving? The answer that arose was: Stop judging. Thus began my inquiry into judgment and my relationship with it.
I made progress and did, indeed, feel more loving, yet I also felt like more of a watchdog. Catching myself judging and then wondering what to do about it because, ultimately, I was judging myself for reverting to this behavior. I had no desire to merely write over these thoughts with plastic imitations of love. I wanted to heal this relationship with my need for self righteousness, which always came with an aftertaste of guilt and shame.
Is it possible to be completely rid of judgment? Maybe not, but it is possible to live and give more love to yourself and others and not reach for judgment mindlessly.
We all want more love in our lives. To be more loving, to be more loved and lovable. To be more compassionate and kind. We all want the end destination. But there’s no fast train, no shortcut. And it’s no fun to do it alone, because, seriously, we end up hopping off at the first stop anyway. Am I right?
That’s why I decided to put together a workshop about Judgment. This work is so new for me that we’ll be using “Judgment Detox,” the book by Gabrielle Bernstein, as the guide. I will bring in other tools and supports as needed and will facilitate conversations around this topic.
Journeys of this nature require bravery. It takes strength to show up, do the work and be witnessed doing it. It takes courage to change, particularly to disarm a pattern that likely got put in place as a defense mechanism to protect you and help you feel safe or special.
There's power in group work. You will have support through challenging terrain, and you'll have someone to celebrate with when you get through it. I hold a safe space that encourages you to dig deep and tune into your soul self. I help you rise up to be more the person you want to be, where your actions, thoughts and words are in alignment with your values and your highest self.
In this 4-week class series, I’ll guide you through the book and other emotional terrain. Timed in the weeks leading up to the Spring Equinox so you can feel lighter and sludge free heading into a season of growth. Sessions include doing practices from the book together and discussing both challenges and breakthroughs.
The book is required for class. The first meeting is Monday, February 24, 6:30–8:30pm at Cult of Gemini in Grass Valley, California, and is held 4 consecutive Mondays ending March 16. Click here for a link to reserve your spot.
