Benefits of a Photo a Day Challenge

Today after sitting much too long working on a new technical hurdle (video editing), I realized I had about 90 minutes for transition time before a meeting. Usually I putz, snack, and get prepped in various ways. Today, thanks to my Photo a Day Challenge for the month of March, I took a walk around my neighborhood.

This little break has refreshed me more than tea, and it's allowing me to adjust to the idea that spring is on its way (I'm one of those weirdos who loves winter and has to adjust to the idea that it's almost over).

PurpleFlowers

There are so many flowers popping out everywhere thanks to several days of rain and mild temps, but the best part is the smell of everything. Often on my walk I would smell something and then look around for the flowers... all of my senses feel fully awake.

As I turned my thoughts and direction towards home and made my way around a school, a tell-tale whoosing caught my attention. I stood still facing an evergreen shrub, noticing its tiny pink blooms which I would've missed had I kept walking. And then, I saw it: a stunning hummingbird with a bright pink head. We flirted for a while, and he even posed for me... but not for my camera. I laughed with someone who wondered what I was doing with the bush as I explained "a flirtatious hummingbird!"... all the explanation she needed before hopping in her car. The start of the motor broke our trance, he whooshed off and I giggled on my way home.
