5 Podcasts for Regaining Motivation

5 podcasts for motivation.jpeg

Some days I’m more motivated than others. If several days slide by in a row where motivation is waning or I feel the spin effect without gaining traction, one of my go-to tools is to listen to a podcast.

My top 5 podcasts for motivation are listed below. They are geared towards entrepreneurial business because that is the realm where I feel most alone and need encouragement and perspective at times.

When I need a boost, I peruse recent episodes for each show (easy to do with Stitcher, my fave podcast streaming app) and see what appeals. I pop on headphones and make jewelry, fold laundry, exercise, put away dishes or do something that takes very little focus. Firing up a podcast when I'm driving helps me get out of my head and shift my perspective to the big picture (bonus: I’m also less likely to give energy to bad drivers).

These are in no particular order.

RISE PODCAST WITH RACHEL HOLLIS

Rachel Hollis came on my radar within the last two years, and I’ve been crushing ever since. I've gobbled up her books and attended a RISE Business conference. Her messaging both inspires and motivates. Sometimes the interviews fall a little flat, yet I always walk away with something. I also enjoy the RISE Together podcast she records with her husband, Dave, that's more relationship-focused. Her easy-going, enjoyable style feels relatable.

THE SCHOOL OF GREATNESS WITH LEWIS HOWES

The concept behind this podcast alone makes my soul hum with the desire to serve and strive for excellence. Conversations always come around to greatness. Lewis Howes engages listeners and interviewees alike with deep, unexpected questions. His personal journey from pro football player to personal development/inspirational speaker also lights me up. What an amazing pivot!

THE MARIE FORLEO PODCAST

Marie Forleo is a firecracker! If you have a chance to watch her Marie TV episodes rather than listen to the audio-version podcast, you’ll be entertained by dance moves, great clothes and playful visual interludes.  She creates a range of content that is tight — very well edited and concise. She works through the spiritual and emotional aspects of being an entrepreneur as well as touches on some technical aspects. Her interviews and self-generated content empower you to go after your dreams by leaning in to what makes YOU special.

THE GOAL DIGGER PODCAST WITH JENNA KUTCHER

Jenna Kutcher has amazing technical podcasts. She fires me up to get my Pinterest game in gear or leverage my LinkedIn profile more. She encourages me to teach and create content more than anyone else. Her “done is better than perfect” philosophy has helped me get into flow and walk the path of #recoveringperfectionist. Her women empowerment and body positivity messaging lifts me up and encourages me to follow my calling now, not at some later point when I’ve lost 10 pounds. She shares recordings of coaching sessions with her coach, Dean Graziosi, which have helped me shift my questioning with my own coaches and accountabilibuddies.

THE ED MYLETT SHOW

This podcast has more heart than the cover art and intro let on. Of this list, this is the one I listen to the least… but it's the one I call on when I'm feeling small. I like listening to both men and women for their different styles. Ed Mylett coaches people who have reached their big dreams they secretly thought they would never hit and helps them move past the barriers and develop even bigger dreams to stay motivated. He's coached both Rachel Hollis and Jenna Kutcher I believe. He interviews highrollers, and the conversations help me break down my limiting beliefs that wealthy people are any different than you and me. He also gives great pep talks. He works for me like a good coach who gets me to dig deep within myself and tap into my own well of strength.
