The Long, Dark Hallway

Last week hit so many of us hard. Celebrities took their own lives, parents died, relationships ended. Other transitions — in themselves mini-deaths, like school ending and graduations — stir us up because they represent a change from what’s known and comfortable to what’s unknown.

This collective sadness begs the question: What provides light through the darkness of grief?

1 Card Quickie Tarot Reading

Ace of Pentacles arrives as a divine gift. Seeds of new beginnings are literally being handed to you, although you do not need to acknowledge this gift. That time will come over the unfolding year as you gain perspective. Maybe a bit of relief comes from knowing that new opportunities are down the road.

For now, being in your body provides relief. Exercise. Move. Work. Get your hands in soil. Sweat it out.

Our physical bodies provide more support to our spirits than we realize. If all of life feels grey, try something new — accept a new client, start a home renovation, try a different recipe, walk in a new-to-you park, experiment with an essential oil combo in the diffuser. You get the gist.

These small sparks of lightness keep you moving through the darkness. Daily rhythms will ground you and serve you well as you adapt to a new view of the world.

Finding connection to your body and this earth moves you forward through the dark hallway rather than floating untethered or completely stalling out. Engage all five senses: taste, touch, smell, sight, sound. Can you introduce something new in each area? As your individual senses re-awaken, they will help you to center and rediscover love and joy over time. They will meld their gifts of complete embodiment to ignite your sixth sense which will bring healing and wisdom.
