Mid-Autumn Check In

Hello, curious soul ~

Before Autumn began, I wrote a blog post similar to My #1 Tactic for Overcoming Summer Stagnation*… but Autumn energy is different for me. In Summer I feel heavy & sluggish. I struggle to enjoy the heat and light, so that list served as a reminder of ways to enjoy a season that's challenging.

Each of us has a season where we feel vibrantly alive, and for me that's Autumn.

This post felt delicious as I wrote about curating intentions and cultivating the high energy of the season. It had a list component as well (hello, Gemini) and it was brimming with all kinds of ways to grow, expand and explore. Like all the Autumns ever culminating into this one.

It was rough (hello, shitty first draft*) but felt salvageable through revisions.

At the end of that day over dinner, I asked my husband his intentions for the upcoming season.

He summed them up into one succinct desire. It's personal and not mine to share, but it floored me with its poignancy and current of truth.

There's no turning away from a desire like that. No masking over it by doing other things. It's singular. It takes deep inner work to achieve. And it sounds delicious… something that would support all other pursuits and help weed out those things that would detract from its achievement.

When I thought about my blog post, it felt so scattered. And then it felt heavy in my gut. I thought about the list, and suddenly it felt burdensome rather than inviting.

As may be true for you, I'm tired and yearning for a bit more grounded growth rather than my usual bevy of starting new things.

So I tabled the blog post because it felt off for where many of us are.

However you categorize how things are going for you right now — and I hope they're going well! — there’s still an energetic weight to being in a pandemic and other larger societal & ancestral things you may be carrying or processing.

This season I invite you to hold the paradox both of relaxing into being and remaining vigilant to your values for yourself, your family and our world at large.

Let go of doing more. Instead, connect with that kernel of truth of what you want this season to be about.

Trees are dropping leaves… let that be a visual reminder for what you're shedding and don't need to carry forward right now.

There are still 6 more weeks to Autumn — we are halfway through, and the energy amps up as it's harvest season with many holidays ahead.

What's one thing you'd like to harvest this season that will fuel you through the following Winter?

Hit reply and let me know what comes to you.

For me the desire for Deepening still rings true. This speaks to nourishment and stretching the taproot down for more stability. It's below-the-surface growth that will serve some of those ideas from my blog post when the time is right for them to be seeded.

What I love about Deepening is that it applies to everything from work projects to relationships. It invites working in the shadows… perfect for the Scorpionic season of thinning veils and going inwards.

Let me know your desire or intention for these last weeks of Autumn with all their amped-up intensity so we can witness each other. One of the most powerful and vulnerable things we can do is to share our intentions and desires… and yet that's the best way to also bring them into reality.

Stay curious,

Kat
